A Christmas Wedding in a Country House

Ally and Lewis tied the knot at Christmas time in Davenport House

There’s definitely something magical about Weddings at Christmas time, it just adds a lovely warmth to the celebrations. Side note: It also means that your venue will be more decorated at this time of year than ever. With Christmas trees and Garlands galore, does that work for you? That’s something only you can decide. Of course, in a place like Davenport House, there’s no room for small trees. We’re going grand all the way!

Ally came to me after being a guest at a previous wedding and was curious about Wedding venues. If you are too, you can see Shropshire’s Top Wedding Venues here

I pointed her in the direction of Davenport House, simply because I knew just how much she would fall in love with it, and that she did.

We spoke about the important photo’s that Ally and Lewis were looking for, every wedding has its key moments, but to some, different parts of the day mean different things. For Ally, it was her Dad seeing her in the dress for the first time. I always like to encourage Bridesmaids to leave the room at this point. It’s a prime time for the Bride and Father to be alone for a few minutes before the Wedding truly begins.

I don’t really orchestrate much when it comes to the storytelling, but as a photographer, I’d be foolish if I didn’t make use of the best lighting and space available so like most of my Brides, I positioned Ally in the best place to ensure not only the lighting was perfect, but that she was indeed the very first person her Dad sees as he opens the door.

It was a beautiful moment, one that will always get to me. As a father myself, I guess it’s something that really resonates with me. Knowing one day, that will be me walking through that door.

Then we can’t forget the amazing evening entertainment that was Jack Dent the Magician. I’ve worked a few weddings with Jack and he just continues to blow my mind each and every time. He really is a wizard! A true master of his craft and I would absolutely recommend him to everyone.
